Full Face Powersports Helmets
If you’re looking for a powersports helmet with the most protection and a high level of comfort, all wrapped in a cutting-edge shape and style, you want one of our full face helmets. These helmets combine superior protection against wind, bugs, and most importantly, impact, with all-season, all day riding comfort, in an advanced design that you’ll be proud to show off when you’re aboard your ATV, UTV, or snowmobile. We have hundreds of full face helmets to choose from, for men, women, and young riders, for every budget, and for every size and shape head. Our full face helmets are manufactured with the most modern materials and they’re available in solid colors and eye-catching graphics; with retro and contemporary, aerodynamic, race track inspired shell profiles; and with state-of-the art ventilation systems, shield fogging control, and features like drop down visors, removeable and washable liners, communications systems compatibility, and more.
Full face powersports helmets have aerodynamic, one-piece shells with built-in chin bars and integrated face shields, sometimes called visors, that together provide the most protection of any helmet available. For some, riding means feeling the wind in your face, but while this experience has a definite appeal, when you consider that studies have shown that 35% of all crashes involve impact in the chin bar area, it’s not hard to imagine what could happen wearing a less protective lid.
Of course, dirt bike, dual sport, and modular helmets also have chin bars. But unlike a motorcycle rider who may just have to deal with the taste of an occasional insect while out on the road, off-road riders must deal with wind-borne dust, dirt and debris, and they can benefit from the protection afforded by a face shield that a dirt bike helmet doesn’t have, especially eye glass wearers who may find goggles uncomfortable. Dual sport and modular helmets come with face shields. Nevertheless, wind noise is also wearisome, and unlike the dual sport helmet with its distinctive peak, the sleek contour of a full face helmet makes for a much quieter ride. And while a modular helmet provides more coverage and protection than an open face helmet, its two-piece construction doesn’t have the strength of the one-piece full face, and the hinge and latching mechanism makes for a heavier helmet. Bottom line, if you regularly do long days in the saddle, a full face helmet is your best bet for burning down the miles in safety and comfort.
No matter your age, gender, or the size and shape of your noggin, we have your full face powersports helmet. Helmet sizes range from youth small to men’s and women’s 3X-Large, in round oval, intermediate oval, and long oval helmet shapes. You can be confident that the helmet you choose will provide the high level of protection and safety you want because all our full face powersports helmets are DOT (Department of Transportation) certified, and some have ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) certification and/or Snell Memorial Foundation approval. A full face helmet consists of a thermoplastic, fiberglass, or composite shell designed to spread an impact over a broad area, an energy absorbing EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam liner, and interior padding.
Most less expensive helmets are made of thermoplastics like ABS or polycarbonate. These helmets are strong and perfectly safe, but with this construction they must be made heavier with thicker EPS to achieve the proper level of safety. Fiberglass and fiberglass composite are stronger and very good at distributing force upon impact and therefore fiberglass helmets can be made lighter. Top of the line Kevlar and carbon fiber composite helmets are extremely strong and can be made even lighter in weight, but they’re generally the most expensive. You’ll be protected in a helmet made of any of these materials in the unfortunate event of a crash, but a lighter helmet will put much less strain on your neck and be more comfortable to wear than a heavier one, especially on long rides. In our full face helmet collection, we’ve got many innovative shell shapes to choose from, some with integrated spoilers, and they come in a rainbow of gloss and matte solid colors, distinctive multi-color and stripe patterns, and unique graphic displays.
An enclosed full face helmet will help keep your head warm so you can be comfortable in colder weather, but when the temperature drops, shield fogging and the dangerous impaired vision that ensues becomes a problem. Some helmets have face shields with an anti-fog coating while others have shields that are set-up for an anti-fog Pinlock® shield. The Pinlock absorbs moisture and forms an insulating layer of air inside the shield, which prevents fogging. Many helmets also have chin vents to help prevent fogging as well as provisions that allow the shield to be opened just a crack for defogging from outside air, and some come with breath guards to deflect hot breath away from the shield. Because cold temperatures and snowmobile riding are synonymous, snowmobile specific full face helmets take the war on fogging to another level with standard breath boxes to keep your breath off the face shield, dual pane shields that have a layer of gas between the shield panes that creates an insulator to prevent fogging, and some even come with electrically heated shields that plug into the snowmobile for the ultimate in fog prevention.
At the other temperature extreme, on a hot summer day in bright sunlight an enclosed helmet could be like an oven, which is why full face powersports helmets have built-in intake and exhaust vents to provide cooling flow-through ventilation. These vents can be opened and closed on most full face helmets for temperature control. The helmet’s comfort liner, the padded layer that contacts your head, is made of open cell foam covered with fabric. Some helmet liner fabrics are moisture wicking to increase your comfort level and some liners are antimicrobial to keep odors at bay. However, any fabric that’s continually exposed to perspiration and the oils from your hair and skin is going to get funky after a while, and a helmet with a removable, washable liner makes getting rid of dirt and odors easy. Some helmet makers also offer cheek pads in different sizes so you can customize fit and comfort.
Most full face powersports helmets come with a pivoting clear face shield, and the majority of these are scratch resistant and provide UV protection. Face shields are generally easy to remove and swap and accessory shields are available for most full face helmets in tints to suit riding conditions, including dark shields that protect your eyes from glare in bright sun and amber that will enhance contrast and definition on overcast days. However, you’ll find that many of our full face helmets feature a convenient lever-operated internal sun visor that can be dropped down to cover your eyes when needed, eliminating the need to carry another face shield.
Talk with other riders in your group and your passenger instead of using hand signals, make calls, rock out with your favorite tunes, and get directions; Bluetooth communicators make it happen and many of our full face powersports helmets make it easy for you to get connected. Several of our full face helmet brands have worked with well-known communications systems providers and configured their helmets to make installation of their systems simple and straightforward. There are provisions for the installation of the speakers and microphone, and even a recess for the controller. Other brands have taken a more universal approach and provided features like integrated speaker and microphone pockets so you can install your choice of communications device.
