Anything powered by fuel has an ignition system that fires the air-fuel mixture up making it explode in the cylinder’s combustion chamber. When your powersports vehicle refuses to start and the battery seems to be fine, your next step is to check the ignition system. Loose or corroded wires and connectors, some faulty switches or fuses are generally more likely to give you trouble than one of the actual ignition system parts, so they should be checked first. Whether the problem is as simple and inexpensive to fix as a faulty connector, or you need a new CDI box or coil, here you are sure to find the right components for replacement or upgrade.
Spark plugs are essential to proper engine operation, but they are generally overlooked. Modern spark plugs are durable, and “noble” metals used for their electrodes extend the service life up to 100,000 miles. However, the lifespan is still limited, and abnormal conditions can further reduce it, which may include the motor running rich or lean, or oil leaking past the rings. These conditions are indicated by carbon or oil deposits, a glazed insulator, or ash covering the electrodes, among other symptoms. Whether you need replacement spark plugs with the same characteristics as the originals, or high-performance spark plugs designed for racing applications, we can accommodate you.
The spark from the spark plug must be powerful, but it must also be delivered at the correct time. On modern ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and jet skis, ignition timing is controlled by a CDI box. It has a capacitor and complex circuitry inside, which determines when to send voltage to the spark plug. Its calculations are based on the input from a pickup coil, which transmits the signals about the engine’s RPM to the “brain” based on the magnetic field from the rotor (flywheel). Over time, when the exposure to heat and vibration reaches a critical level, the CDI module fails. We have both replacement capacitor-discharge ignition boxes and their high-performance counterparts designed for racing use.
If you experience a frustrating no-spark problem and have checked the wiring, ground, switches, connections, and spark plugs, the next component to inspect is the ignition coil. These coils can be of different configurations, including those sitting directly on top of the spark plugs and those attached to one or two plugs through wires. When they fail, sometimes you may face engine performance issues like hesitation, jerking, stalling, and rough idling, and other times you may have a no-start. Whether you are looking for an OE-style coil at a fair price or a high-output coil kit for the use in motorsports, search no further.
Are you planning a quality restoration or head-turning performance makeover for an ATV, UTV, or sled? We’ve got you covered. From coils, distributors and switches to spark plug wires and gaskets, our ultimate selection of powersports ignition parts and accessories includes everything you may need to optimize or increase your powersports vehicle’s performance. Choose top-notch ignition coils, spark plugs and wires to restore or turn up the juice on your ignition system for fast starts, consistent engine performance, optimized fuel efficiency and lower emissions. We also offer a wide variety of ignition switches with keys and cylinder locks, sensors and relays to control the vehicle’s main electrical systems, initiate the startup, and provide top-notch security. Whether you need quality ignition parts to fire up your vehicle again with utmost efficiency and precision or looking for high-performance components, we deliver.
