Powersports Voltmeter & Ammeter Gauges

Few things are more annoying than having a broken ATV or UTV and not knowing what the issue is. However, if your machine is equipped with a high-quality ammeter or voltmeter gauge, you will have good chances to diagnose a problem on your own. Both gauge types help monitor the function of your charging system but do this in different ways. Ammeters are designed to read electrical flow. When you turn on your accessories such as lights, etc., the voltage regulator senses the voltage drop and sends current to the alternator. The alternator, in its turn, sends power to the battery through the ammeter. When the alternator is running smoothly, the gauge shows a “+” sign, but when it’s non-functional or can’t keep up with electrical demands, you’ll see a “-” sign.

While ammeters were once widely used on all vehicles, nowadays they are almost fully replaced with voltmeters. Voltmeters don’t monitor the charging system in real-time but, unlike ammeters, they don’t confuse riders with the needle wiggling back and forth constantly. Voltmeters are designed to measure the accumulated voltage. When the engine is not running, the battery should measure at 12.1 Volts or more. When you start your vehicle, the system should maintain about 14 or 15 Volts. If the readings aren’t within this range, check the operation of your electrical system and the accuracy of your voltmeter. In our online store, you’ll find an extensive selection of ammeter and voltmeter gauges from some of the most trusted manufacturers in the industry. Ammeter gauges we offer are a perfect option for your older vehicle, while voltmeter gauges are an ideal upgrade or replacement for your factory original. All gauges stocked on our virtual shelves are made using the finest materials and the latest technology to ensure accurate performance for years to come.
