Riding off-road vehicles is fun for the whole family. Whether it’s on ATVs at an off-road riding park, on side-by-sides exploring the wilderness, or sledding across snow-covered winter trails on snowmobiles, off-road vehicle riding is an activity that the family can enjoy together. Riding safely and wearing the appropriate safety gear will help ensure a good time for all. Every member of the family, regardless of age or gender, should be able to wear safety equipment that fits right and functions properly, and has a satisfying appearance. That’s why, here on our digital shelves, we’ve assembled such an extensive collection of styles, colors, and sizes of all types of safety gear. No piece of safety equipment is more important than a helmet, and in this section you’ll find a large variety of powersports helmets that have been specially selected to meet the needs and appeal to the tastes of women riders.

Here you’ll find all the helmet styles - full face, modular, open face, dual sport, off-road, and half shell helmets - so you can get the combination of coverage, comfort, and style you’re looking for. Full face powersports helmets, with their one-piece construction, built-in chin bars and integrated face shields, provide the most protection from wind and bugs, and most importantly, impact in the unfortunate case of an accident. Their enclosed design and aerodynamic shape make them much quieter than other types, and they’ll help keep your head warm so you can be comfortable in colder weather, but since they also have ventilation systems, you’ll stay cool when the temperature rises. Vents at the front of the helmet take in air that circulates through the interior and exhausts through vents at the rear, and most openings can be opened and closed for temperature control.

Full face helmets come with pivoting, scratch and UV resistant clear face shields. Dark shields are generally available to make riding more comfortable in bright sun, and face shields are generally easy to remove and swap, but many full face helmets feature a convenient lever-operated internal sun visor that can be dropped down to cover the eyes when needed, making an additional shield unnecessary. When riding in cold weather, shield fogging and the dangerous impaired vision that ensues becomes a problem. Some full face helmets have face shields with an anti-fog coating while others have shields that are set-up for an anti-fog Pinlock® shield. The Pinlock absorbs moisture and forms an insulating layer of air inside the shield, which prevents fogging. Many full face helmets also have chin vents to help prevent fogging as well as provisions that allow the shield to be opened just a crack for defogging from outside air, and some come with breath guards to deflect hot breath away from the shield.

But if riding your off-road vehicle isn’t complete without feeling the wind in your face, look over our open face helmets collection. An open face helmet covers the top, back and sides of your head but leaves your face exposed. Obviously, without a chin bar an open face won’t provide the level of protection you get with a full face helmet, but for a lot of riders the advantages of an open face make the risk worth it. With an open face you get classic style and a feeling of being a part of the riding environment, without the claustrophobic feeling that some experience wearing a full face. When compared to a full face helmet, with an open face you can enjoy lighter weight; see better and hear what’s going on around you; be cooler on a hot day; easily make yourself understood and hear what others are saying in a conversation; and be able to grab a drink and a snack or have a smoke without having to take off your helmet. And like full face helmets, many open face helmets have pivoting face shields, ventilation systems and drop down sun visors.

Half shell helmets are smaller versions of the open face, and the closest you can get to the open air feel and freedom of riding with no helmet at all. Half helmets have traditionally been basic - little more than a shell, liner, and chin straps - and while we can supply you with one like that, check out our half shell helmet selection and you’ll see we can also offer you much more. If you’re a rider who wants more than a no frills helmet, we have half helmets with internal drop-down sun visors, with ventilation systems, and with other useful features.

Our modular helmets combine features of full face and open face helmets. The entire chin bar is hinged and flips up on modular helmets, which is why they’re also known as flip up helmets. Although the hinge and latch mechanism make a modular helmet not quite as structurally strong as a one-piece full face helmet, with the chin bar closed and latched, you get the same degree of protection against wind, bugs, and debris as a full face, and much greater impact protection and noise reduction than you would have with an open face helmet. And when you want to enjoy a liquid refreshment, grab a quick bite, have a conversation, or just take a break and get some fresh air, with the push of a button you can flip up the chin bar and face shield. With a modular helmet in the open position you’ll have much less difficulty putting on eyeglasses; in fact, you can put some modular helmets on while wearing glasses. Most modular helmets also come with features like ventilation systems, drop down sun visors, and Pinlock-ready face shields.

Our off-road helmets have the features you need for comfort and protection under strenuous off-road riding conditions. They’re lightweight, with plenty of vents and an elongated chin bar to let in cooling air, the eye port is larger so goggles can be worn comfortably, and they have a pronounced peak, or visor, to help shield your eyes from the sun and, along with the chin bar and goggles, provide some protection from “roost”, the mud and dirt that can be hurled up by riders up ahead. Our dual sport helmets share features with off-road and full face helmets, like a pivoting face shield for a quiet ride, but with a wide eye port that gives you the option of wearing goggles, and a peak for off-road protection that is removable when you want a sleeker, more aerodynamic shape for high speed riding. Dual sport helmets also have full face helmet-like ventilation systems, drop down sun visors and Pinlock-ready face shields.

With Bluetooth communicators you can talk with other riders in your group and your passenger instead of using hand signals, make calls, and rock out with your favorite tunes, and many of our helmets make it easy for you to get connected. In addition to a select number of Bluetooth equipped helmets that come with built-in speakers, microphone, and control module, we also offer Bluetooth compatible helmets. Several of our helmet brands have worked with well-known communications systems providers and configured their helmets to make installation of their systems simple and straightforward. There are provisions for the installation of the speakers and microphone, and even a recess for the controller. Other brands have taken a more universal approach and provided features like integrated speaker and microphone pockets so you can install your choice of communications device.

No matter which helmet style you choose, you can be confident that it meets stringent safety standards as all are DOT (Department of Transportation) certified and/or have ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) certification, and some have Snell Memorial Foundation approval. A helmet consists of an outer shell, an impact absorbing liner, and interior padding that all work together to provide protection and comfort. The outer shell is made of thermoplastic, fiberglass, or composite material, and designed to spread an impact over a broad area and prevent objects from piercing the helmet. The impact absorbing liner, made of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, decreases the amount of energy transmitted to the head in the event of an impact. The helmet’s comfort liner, the padded layer that contacts the head, is made of open cell foam covered with fabric.

Most helmets are made of thermoplastics like ABS or polycarbonate. These helmets are strong and perfectly safe, but they must be made heavier with thicker EPS to achieve the proper level of safety. Some helmets are made of fiberglass, which is stronger and very good at distributing force upon impact and therefore fiberglass helmets can be made lighter. Top of the line composite helmets, which can be made of combinations of fiberglass, Kevlar, carbon fiber, and Aramid, are extremely strong and can be made even lighter in weight, but they’re generally the most expensive. You’ll be protected in a helmet made of any of these materials in the unfortunate event of a crash, but a lighter helmet is easier on neck muscles and less likely to be fatiguing. Some helmets have dual-density, or multi-layer density EPS foam that is designed to be effective at protection from impacts that occur at varying speeds. Some comfort liner fabrics are moisture wicking to draw sweat away and make you more comfortable and some liners are antimicrobial to keep odors at bay. However, any fabric that’s continually exposed to perspiration and oils from the hair and skin is going to get funky after a while, and one of our helmets with a removable, washable liner makes getting rid of dirt and odors easy.

To provide the necessary protection a helmet must fit properly. A helmet that is loose and moves around on the head won’t be able to protect adequately. The helmet should fit snugly but not be so tight that it’s uncomfortable. To get the right helmet size measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure positioned just above the eyebrows in front and at the largest area in back, and then cross-reference the measurement with the helmet sizing chart provided at the product listing. Our women’s helmets come in sizes from youth small to 3X-large. You’ll see that some product listings indicate the helmet shape as well, long oval, intermediate oval or round oval, which corresponds to the shape of your head. If your head is longer front-to-back than side-to-side, then a long oval helmet will most likely fit best, if it’s only somewhat longer front-to-back than side-to-side, an intermediate oval helmet will be most comfortable, and if the front-to-back and side-to-side dimensions are about the same, a round oval helmet will fit best and provide the most comfort.

Finally, we know that no matter how well a helmet protects, how many features it has or how comfortable it is to wear, you’re not going to want to wear it if you don’t like the way it looks. That’s why we offer such a wide range of unique helmet shell styles and appealing colors. While we can supply you with solid color helmets including traditional white and black, most of our helmets come in eye-catching multi-color and stripe patterns, camo, and wild graphic displays, including high-visibility colors that will ensure you get noticed.
