Just like any other vehicle, ATVs, UTVs, and snowmobiles require their engines to be properly cooled and lubricated for reliable and lasting riding performance. They are built to suit different applications from racing to farm work and withstand a variety of riding conditions from extreme heat/cold to deep mud, and that means they require a quality coolant that will work as hard as they do. On our digital shelves, you are offered a variety of premium powersports engine coolants. From different types of antifreeze to various concentrates, we have something for everyone.
Engine coolants play a vital role in the overall performance of a vehicle. Their main goal is to cool the motor preventing it from overheating. Aside from that, they protect aluminum engine components such as cylinder heads, blocks, etc. and cooling system parts including a water pump and radiator from rust and corrosion. That becomes courtesy of the corrosion inhibitors in the antifreeze that goes to make up a coolant mixture. As they deteriorate over time, most OEMs recommend changing the coolant every 2 years.
Sometimes the coolant level goes down due to some minor leaks in the system. To make sure your ATV or UTV is always ready for your next adventure, you should check that level on a regular basis, add the fluid when needed, and, of course, fix all leaks. Today, there are four types of coolants available on the market: ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, organic acid technology, and waterless. It’s an obvious point that three of them contain water, which means you can add distilled water to top off the coolant level in case the antifreeze of the right type is unavailable. Waterless coolant is a good choice for those who often push their vehicle to its limit. Although it is also a glycol-based liquid substance, it operates without water, and that allows for a wider operating temperature range.
