Instead, use special helmet cleaners, visor wipers and other helmet care products provided on our website. They will help you keep your helmet clean and shining without putting a strain on your budget.
Cleaning the outer cover of your helmet is the most common helmet maintenance task you need to do on a regular basis to keep it looking brand-new. While, at first sight, it seems to be an easy job, there are some rules you should follow to have it done successfully. If your helmet features a removable visor, it is better to take it off before cleaning the shell. Use only cleaners and microfiber towels that are specifically designed for the application. In case, no special washers are available, use a mix of warm water and soap.
Your helmet spends a lot of time in close contact with your head’s skin and hair, absorbing oils and sweat, which quickly turns it into an emitter of funky odors. To prevent this, clean the inner liner and padding of your helmet on a regular basis. If it has a removable lining and pads, simply pull them out from your helmet and hand wash using a specific cleaner or soapy water. You may also wash the lining and pads on a delicate cycle of your washing machine using mild laundry detergent.
If your helmet comes without a removable inner liner, its cleaning can take more time and effort since you will have to presoak and scrub it by hand. Just like in case with a removable liner, you’ll also need to take off the visor and all pads in order to make the process a bit easier. You may use special foam cleaners or presoak the helmet in warm water and shampoo or in a mild laundry detergent. If you go the second way, you’ll need to wait until the helmet soaks the water solution, then rub the liner with your fingers, and rinse it in fresh water several times.
