Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) was once part of Bombardier Inc., a leading Canadian manufacturer of trains and planes. A year later, the Bombardier Traxter was named “ATV of the Year” by ATV Magazine. At the same time, the company’s engineers started working on their second, high-performance model, the DS650, targeting skilled sports enthusiasts. In 2000, Bombardier added the Traxter XL, the first 4x4 ATV with a dumping box-bed. Two years later, the Traxter MAX was introduced, the first ever all-terrain vehicle designed for two riders.

A group of investors acquired the recreational products division from Bombardier Inc. in 2003 forming the new company, called the BRP. The Bombardier Outlander equipped with an automatic transmission and switchable 2WD/4WD is perfect for both outdoor chores and off-road exploration. ATV Magazine named the Outlander “ATV of the year.” For young riders, Bombardier offers such models as the DS50 and DS90 equipped with CVT transmissions allowing kids to master gearshifts. In 2006, the company rebranded all its Bombardier ATVs offering them under the Can-Am name. The current lineup includes more than sixty models in a variety of engine displacements, sizes, and options for both work and play.
