The history of Case IH began far back in 1842, when Jerome Increase Case founded the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Company manufacturing construction and agricultural equipment. For many decades, farm tractors, threshing machines, windrowers, and other agricultural mechanisms were the main products of this company, which could be owned by various corporations and carry on its business under different names. But still, the word Case has always been present there, as well as skills and knowledge of its engineers. In 2009, the company introduced its first utility vehicle – the Scout. In 2010, it became available at dealerships.

There are two lineups of this UTV – the Scout and Scout XL. The former is available in a two-passenger configuration only, with a gasoline engine, CVT, and shift-on-demand four-wheel-drive system. The motor is an air-cooled 4-stroke 480cc V-Twin, Briggs & Stratton Vanguard, developing 14 hp. The Scout XL got more options – it's available both in two- and four-passenger configurations, with either a gasoline (23 hp) or diesel (20 hp) engine made by Kawasaki or Kubota respectively. The XL model also has a CVT and all-wheel drive engaging automatically.

All configurations of the Scout can be ideal for hauling seed, animal feed, tools, and landscape materials. But the cargo bed capacity is different – 425 lbs in the standard model and 1,050 lbs in XL versions. Independent front and rear suspensions and rack & pinion steering provide sufficient comfort while riding on rugged terrain; moreover, XL models can be ordered with an optional double A-Arm front suspension, swing-arm rear suspension, and coilovers. Besides, these vehicles received ROPS protection and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes featuring good stopping power for better safety.
