Kasea was founded by brothers Ken and Steve Leighty in 1989 in Seattle, Washington, when they saw an opportunity to fill the gap in the youth ATV market. Kasea stands for “Ken And Steven’s Excellent Adventure”. The company’s goal was to build high-quality, safe, and affordable street-legal all-terrain vehicles for youth and adults. The Skyhawk Mini 50 became the perfect introductory ATV that allows young riders to build their self-confidence and improve riding skills before transferring to larger and more powerful machines. The Mini offers many safety features that any parent would appreciate, including a rear tether, wrist lanyard, and covered footrests. This child-friendly ATV packs smooth but ample power while offering easy controls, electric start, and full suspension.
When a young child becomes a teenager, he or she can go for a larger Skyhawk 90, 170, or 250 model. The 90 version is powered by an 83 cc single-cylinder, two-stroke engine coupled with an automatic variable transmission allowing the rider to reach the top speed of 30 mph. Safe design, large tires, plentiful power, and attractive price made the Skyhawk 90 one of the most sought-after machines of the Kasea lineup. The 170 version is equipped with a 169 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke motor pushing the ATV up to 45 mph. The model offers unbeatable performance for the dollar. The Kasea Skyhawk 250 features a 249 cc two-cylinder, four-stroke engine mated to a five-speed transmission. An improved carburetor and air intake system allow for more power and better reliability. Later, Kasea added buggies, motorcycles, and dirt bikes to their assortment. During the peak period, the company was selling over 30,000 vehicles per year. In 2006, Steve Leighty decided to switch gears and started focusing on electric vehicles discontinuing all Kasea products.
