UTV Pistons, Rings, Connecting Rods & Components

Pistons, rings, and connecting rods do what your UTV’s motor was made for – generate power. Actually, these bits plus the cylinders and crankshaft form the engine core, while the rest of the parts help them do their job. The pistons, connecting rods, and crank are collectively known as the engine rotating assembly. In high-revving motors, like the one fitted to your UTV, the assembly encounters serious loads and gets worn relatively quickly. The first to go are normally the piston rings.

The purpose of these rings is to isolate the combustion chamber from the crankcase thus preventing motor oil from being burnt, fuel from dissolving the lubricant, and pressure from being just wasted. When the rings approach the end of their service life, what you notice first is the loss of oil. Increased oil consumption is often accompanied by bluish smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Then, power loss and elevated fuel consumption come in. At this point, the problem must be fixed to prevent serious damage to the motor. Do that with our quality UTV engine parts.
