What Accessories are Available for My Powersports Helmet?

Within POWERSPORTSiD.com, you'll find a wealth of repair parts, trick lighting options, body armor, exciting electronics, and riding gear designed around the use of motorized ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and personal watercraft (jet skis).

In this article, we'll show you how to keep your powersport helmet looking, working, and feeling like new with individual replacement pieces from our Helmet Accessories section. More specifically, we've got inserts, liners, cheek pads, and breath boxes to keep the inside of your helmet comfortable and well-padded. When outer visor shields become scratched, we make it easy to swap in a new replacement piece - plus applicable hardware for the visors, or flip-up chin bar sections.

We've also got replacement air vent and wind diffuser pieces when original ones break or become damaged. For those interested in adding style while boosting safety, we've got curved light bars for the back of the helmet that make you easy to see in low-visibility conditions. And for effective helmet care when it's not in use, check out our storage cases and cleaning products.

When shopping for replacement parts specific to your helmet, we recommend using check boxes along the left side of the screen (with names of helmet manufacturers) under the "BRAND" heading.

Inserts & Liners

Powersports Helmets Inserts Liners

Periodically, it's important to remove interior helmet liner pieces (for the top part of your head) for cleaning and disinfecting. However, if they've become worn out and shredded over time, you'll find quality replacements in our Inserts & Liners section with original, tailored fits for a variety of helmet brands. Individual replacement liners, cheek pads, and more can also be found in the Product Options section of many helmet pages.

Cheek Pads

Powersports Helmets Cheek Pads

While interior liners keep your helmet fitting snugly and comfortably around the top of your head, cheek pads serve a similar function for the lower sides of your face.

If the ones in your helmet have become dirty or degraded, we've got comfortable and durable OE-quality replacements in our Cheek Pads section.

Breath Boxes

Any time you're wearing a fully enclosed helmet, condensation and fog-up can form on the inside of the visor, making it extremely difficult to see. An excellent solution to this problem are "breath boxes" designed to fit inside the chin section of the helmet. These mouth masks catch moist exhalation and route it away from areas where condensation would normally form.

Powersports Helmets Breath Boxes
Shown here are some example of "breath boxes". These direct moist air away from the visor screen to prevent fogging - especially in damp, cold conditions.

To ensure germs and bacteria don't build up to excessive levels within your breath box, it's a good idea to insert a new one regularly. Breath boxes are not recommended for use with watersports equipment.

Helmet & Sun Shields

Tinted Shields / Shields With Heating Elements
In our Helmet & Sun Shields section, you'll find visor shields of various tints (left) and visors with built in heating elements (right).

However you enjoy your powersport equipment, clear windshield visor pieces on your helmet take a beating - becoming scuffed and scratched over time. Adding to that is abrasive damage that occurs at rest if an unprotected helmet is jammed in a closet with a whole bunch of other hard-edged gear.

Dual-Pane Visors / Corner Pieces By Hinges / Hardware / Antiglare Inserts
From l to r: We also offer dual-pane visors, corner pieces by hinges, hardware, and antiglare inserts.

In our Powersports Helmet & Sun Shields section, we've got clear windshield visor pieces - including electrically heated and double-paned ones that eliminate fog altogether. To combat morning or late-afternoon sun in your eyes, we've got horizontal anti-glare insert pieces that add a deep tint along only the top section of your visor shield.

Echo 3-Snap Flip Helmet Face Shield
The Echo 3-Snap Flip Helmet Face Shield is available in multiple tints and is designed for an open-face or half helmet with a flip-up shield.

If glare is a recurring factor, you may also consider colored, dark, or even mirrored visor pieces. For use in snow and fog, yellow- and rose-colored lenses block glare while making it easier to distinguish shapes. Should you prefer not to switch out your whole visor piece, appropriately tinted goggles or sunglasses are available as well.

UV-Protecting Sunglasses
We've also got stylish, UV-protecting sunglasses.

Visors & Peaks

Another effective way to block glare is with solid Visors & Peaks which can be attached or removed easily to a helmet directly above the forehead. To distinguish between the two types of pieces, "visors" are typically slimmer and smaller, and are meant for riding in a level position on paved roads. If you're travelling at higher speeds, visors generally create less lift-up.

Visors / Peaks
Visors (left) and peaks (right) are designed to block sun glare.

"Peaks" block more glare thanks to a larger surface area. So if big waves, snow banks, or hilly terrain get you into extreme upward angles, you won't have to tilt your head down as far to block the sun.

Vents & Diffusers

Enclosed Helmet With Ventilation Ducts

As we mentioned earlier, ventilation ducts that route outside air through the inside of your helmet are essential on any enclosed helmet. Doing this keeps you cool and comfortable, and it keeps you safe because moisture buildup on the inside of the visor is greatly reduced if not eliminated.

Center Vents / Mouthpieces / Chin Vents / Top Vents / Rear Vents / Front Top Vents
Shown here are some sample center vents, mouthpieces, chin vents, top vents, rear vents, and front top vents.

Unfortunately, parts of these ventilation ducts mounted on the outside of the helmet get damaged easily if the helmet is carelessly dropped. While this is frustrating, these pieces are designed to break off easier to ensure they don't catch on things and twist a wearer's head sideways in an accident.

In our Vents & Diffusers section, you'll find a wide variety of replacement vent pieces designed for top, center, side, and chin areas of your helmet.

Pivot Kits & Covers

Replacement Hardware Pieces

Ventilation ducts aren't the only things on the outside of a powersports helmet that can break if the helmet is dropped or stored improperly. For example, if you've got hinge mechanisms, gear wheels, screws, or springs that no longer work like they should, the sun visor or bottom chin section may jam or fail to work smoothly. Before you toss the helmet out, we've got a great selection of replacement hardware pieces and more in our Pivot Kits & Covers section.

Helmet Lights

Helmet Lights

In our Helmet Lights section, we've got lightweight, curved light bars that mount on the back of your helmet with double-sided adhesive. These light bars contain a series of LED lights that illuminate to make you a more visible beacon on land, snow, or water! And if your powersports vehicle has turn signals or other flashing lights, the light bars can even be set up to work in synch with them.

Helmet Care

Maybe when your helmet's not in use, you leave it sitting on your vehicle's handlebars or seat without a second thought. However, it's important to realize that the soft, padded interior liners of your helmet can soak up any airborne mold or noxious chemical fumes present in a storage shed or garage. For these reasons, it's best to keep your helmet inside in a dry and clean location. A good helmet storage bag (see further below) is a great long-term investment. Or, consider the GMAX Helmet Stand which lets you safely store and display your helmet off the floor anywhere.

Helmet Cleaners / Finger Wipes / Stand
Our Helmet Care section includes helmet cleaners, finger wipes for the visor, and a stand.

In our Helmet Care section, we've got other essential items you shouldn't be without. For example, the Prairie Dog Finger Visor Wiper Set is a set of small rubber wipers that are worn on your thumb or finger. With a quick, effortless flick, you can maintain visibility by wiping water, mud, or snow off the visor. These are stretch-to-fit, so they'll fit any rider's finger and can even be worn over most riding gloves.

We've also got active foaming cleaners for periodic cleaning of interior padding areas. These lift deep dirt out of surfaces for removal, deodorize bacteria smells, and drive out any pollutants and toxins that have collected.

Helmet Bags

When not in use, keeping your helmet surrounded by a padded, protective Helmet Bag will shield vulnerable parts from damage when you're carrying, moving, or storing it. And as we noted further above, keeping it in such an enclosure can prevent airborne toxins from leaching into the padding.

Helmet Bags

Among a good selection of bags you'll find, there's the Nelson-Rigg Helmet Compact Backpack for easy over-the-shoulder transport. The Fly Racing Helmet Shield Bag works like a traditional backpack when you need to carry your helmet, then folds into a compact section that can be worn around the waist when it's time to put the helmet on.

Helmet Decorations

Last, but not least, why not make a visible statement with adhesive helmet decorations that also increase safety with high-visibility reflective materials. Thanks to strong 3M double-sided adhesive, decorations will stay in place after years of sun exposure. Should you choose to take them off the helmet completely, the adhesive tape can be removed without damaging the helmet surface.
